“Magic Mike” Does Have That Certain Element of a Gay Sales Spike

OK, I never really do this!

I never really publicly fawn over Hollywood fare via this blog which doesn’t have anything to do with gay porn sex.

However, try as I may, it’s hard to ignore the “Entertainment Weekly” cover for the upcoming “stripper by night, yet starving artist furniture maker by day” film “Magic Mike” which was written by and co-stars model turned actor Channing Tatum.

I’m not usually one to laud Hollywood for its teasing and taunting of us gays with Hollywood actors that are clearly unattainable to us, albeit merely to acquire our gay dollars at the cineplexes, but “Magic Mike” does seem to have that certain element of a gay sales spike.

How so? Well, let’s just look at the cast of the movie.

Tatum has publicly acknowledged he is a former stripper. He even continues to demonstrate his “drop it low” skills on the talk show circuit.

Matt Bomer, star of USA Network’s “White Collar” recently came out as “Team M4M” with little fanfare nor a ticker tape parade.

Joe Manganiello portrays a super hunky werewolf on HBO series “True Blood” and it doesn’t get any more homoerotic than that, as per his nudity body frolicking around the plot lines.

Now we come to the daddy of them all, Matthew McConaughey aka “the shirtless wonder.” He’s from Texas and likes to beat on his bongo drums nude. Plus, you know what they say about Texas longhorns. “Everything IS bigger in Texas!”

The “EW” cover is clearly designed to attract straight women and gay men. Are they hot? YES! Does the studio want your dead presidents gay money? YES! Will I succumb to their advances? Highly doubtful!

I suppose even writing about this serves as a ringing endorsement of the film, but sometimes we all need a little eye candy.
